Since most of what we were there to cover was designed to be covered in two days, day three was a bit of an extra. We decided to let the Samoa met service take the lead, asking us any questions they had or allowing us to explain their operations.
We were then given a tour of the station. Part of this was to get a sense of our good their internet connection was, but it was also an opportunity to take a look at the rest of their operations. Although my boss was a meteorologist, I am most definitely not, so to be able to see how weather forcasting was done at a small station was a treat.
Speaking of weather, we got a sample of the full range on offer during our stay. The days were warm and humid, probably high 20s°C, and there was always a risk of a sunny day turning to rain without any warning. If you’re planning to travel around Samoa (or many of the other islands) make sure to bring an umbrella.
